Since davidandmarcy.com has sat idle since our wedding, I thought
this Christmas would be an ideal time to make an update and share
a little bit of what we’ve been up to since we got married.
Upon returning to Boston after our honeymoon, we settled into our
new apartment together. We live right in the heart of the city --
the middle of the action. Here's a video clip of what a summer
evening is like on our street.
Not long after returning from the South Pacific, we were crossing
the Atlantic to attend the wedding of my long-time friend, Stephanie,
in France. The French really know how to throw a party. The reception
went until 6 a.m.!
Within days of our return from France, Dave had sinus
surgery... again.
We were fortunate to have a lot of visitors from home in the fall
of 2003—even two with the same name! My friend, Michelle,
visited in September and Dave’s sister, Michelle, visited
in October. My dad also came for a visit in October as did Dave’s
friend, Eric Connor.
October was also a good month for us in that Dave landed a job. He manages
a digital printing department at a print shop in Cambridge. Although
he puts in some killer hours he
really enjoys his job.
Thanksgiving found us in Pine Bluffs and Christmas was spent in
Helena. Dave returned to Wyoming again in January to attend the
wedding of his cousin, Robin. We had some great get-togethers with
friends over the winter: New Year's in Jersey, Jim McInerney's 30th
birthday party in Manhattan, and a "Miracle
on Ice" weekend in Lake Placid.
John and Tracy Ostrander pulled the ultimate birthday
surprise on Dave and came to Boston for the weekend of his 30th
birthday. Two weeks later John and Dave went to Kansas City for
the NCAA Basketball Tournament.
I had a girl's weekend with my friends, Holly and Chris, in Granby,
Colorado where Holly lives (elevation: 8,000 ft. population: 1,500).
Hours before we arrived, a deranged Granby resident welded himself
into an armor plated bulldozer and rolled through town destroying
various buildings... and people think that all the crime is in the
big cities.
My Uncle O'Neal made his first-ever trip to the East Coast in June
and visited us here in Boston. He's an avid Minnesota Twins fan
so we took him to his first MLB game. Unfortunately for him, the
Sox triumphed 9-2. Fortunately for us, I think O'Neal's presence
at Fenway Park broke the curse! We also took O'Neal to DC to see
the sites and visit our cousins, the Mannings.
We found ourselves in Pine Bluffs for the 4th of July. Thanks to
Erin's "no rain dance,"
we were able to enjoy a great pool party.
The fireworks in Pine were some of the most exciting I'd ever seen.
I'm confident the volunteer fire department would agree.
From Wyoming we headed to Oregon to attend the biennial Sitter
Family Reunion. Neither of us are related to anybody at the reunion
but it's a good time so we go. We were able to spend some quality
time with my godson, Matt, and his sister
Molly. My parents also met us in Oregon so we had a great week
chock full of family time.
The Democratic National Convention came to Boston at the end of
July and so did our friend, Scott Yelton, from Oregon. We saw Bill
Clinton outside his hotel the first night of the convention. As
Dave said, he looks as fake in real life as he does on TV, but just
the same, it was cool to see him.
Our next adventure took us to beautiful Natchez, Mississippi for
a wedding... in August. Surprisingly, Eric & Elise Jones' gorgeous
August wedding in Mississippi was not nearly as hot as our record-breaking
103 degree wedding day last July in Montana. Go figure.
Dave's cousin, Justin, and his friend, Aaron, came to Boston for
a visit in August. You can see a clip of our neighbors telling Justin
to turn the music down at 3:00 in
the morning if you like.
Kudos to Dave who survived a week-long trip to Germany and Prague
with his in-laws in September. Want to know what the subway ride
home is like after you have spent all day at the Oktoberfest?
I was lucky to have not one but two girls weekends this past year.
I met my friends, Wendy and Jereen, in Nashville for a very fun
weekend in October. Coincidentally, Dave will be in Nashville in
March for the 2005 NCAA Basketball Tournament.
October was the best month EVER to be in Boston! The city went
absolutely crazy when the Sox won the Pennant,
and again when they won the World Series.
We spent Thanksgiving in Helena this year and we are heading to
Pine Bluffs for Christmas. In an effort to avoid another cold New
Year's Eve we are heading to Rio de Janeiro for 5 days.
We hope this page finds all of you happy, healthy and in good spirits.
We wish you a wonderful Christmas and a very happy new year.
